My Offerings

R

Advocate for Yourself

I want that promotion and deep down I know I earned it but I’m not sure how to ask for it. I feel uncomfortable and believe that asking for a promotion is presumptuous. My cultural and self-limiting beliefs state that I should wait for the position to be offered to me.

R

Express Yourself Confidently

Giving and receiving constructive feedback is uncomfortable. Giving actionable feedback feels too much like criticism. Receiving constructive feedback makes me feel small and like I did not do my best, all of which makes me defensive. I lose sight of the reason for feedback, thus lacking the perspective needed for self-improvement. I don’t speak up because I don’t want to appear as defensive as I feel.

R

Shift the Focus

I’m very conscious of making a good impression. I want to be perceived positively and strive for perfection in the hopes that I will be top of mind for recognition and promotion. I want to do a good job and not over stress about minor mistakes.

About Me

Hi!

Having worked in a corporate setting for over 25 years, I noticed that at times race and gender played a role in how some women were perceived and how that impacted their career trajectory. My family immigrated to the US when I was a child, and I was raised to work hard, excel and never show weakness. This resulted in a strong work ethic - if I worked hard, I would be rewarded for my efforts. I later learned that workplace politics often played a large role in the promotion and recognition process, especially for those of different ethnicities.

Sometimes, women who look like me have to carefully form their thoughts and adjust their language as they ask for recognition and promotion. I have had to gather the facts needed to justify or support my contributions to the team. That constant proving of myself was exhausting and resulted in feelings of helplessness, insecurity and loss of confidence. I lost the ability to use my voice which resulted in a vicious cycle of resentment, frustration, and doubt, adversely impacting my physical and mental health.

Armed with a diagnosis of chronic diseases, I took a long hard look at how I had gotten there and realized that my physical ailments were rooted in self-management and self-care. I had control over what happened to me and my body, because I chose how I reacted to everything around me! Thus began my journey to better health by searching for my voice and resolving to advocate for what I wanted and not let frustration consume me from the inside.

I designed this program based on my own experiences and the lessons learned along the way. Like me, you will discover your core needs and the why behind the choices you make. Most importantly, you will find your voice and learn to use it effectively.

“I’m writing this review for Marie Stuppard Coaching because I’m forever grateful for the impact her presence in my life made at a particularly pivotal and vulnerable time. I started working with Marie at a time I was starving to discover the patterns in my behaviour that were kept me stuck in submission because I hadn’t developed a personal toolkit of discernment, personal authority and self awareness . Slowly, I started pulling apart the belief systems that were subconsciously keeping me small and scared; quiet and muted. You will find that the impact of her coaching is accretive but the results astounding if you’re committed to doing the work and curious throughout the journey. When you’ve finally come to accept where you are and want a partner committed to your evolution, call Marie. I’m glad I did.”
